The free app condenses content from USA TODAY into an easy-to-access interface to help you stay ahead of current affairs on the go. You can check the latest headlines in six different categories (news, money, sports, life, tech and travel). Each of these can be broken down into subsections to give you instant access to the news that you want to hear about. All of the news from USA TODAY can be downloaded to be read offline, which is great for those without a data plan.
The Scores section in the USA TODAY application displays the latest scores in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAAF and the NCAAB. This is great for quickly checking how your team is doing, but unfortunately it lacks text commentary, game analysis or latest standings.
Latest forecasts from the Weather Channel are integrated into the Weather section of USA TODAY. Here you can access the current conditions in your city, along with five-day and hourly forecasts. You can set favorite locations and flick through forecasts for these cities just by swiping your finger.
Perusing the Photos area of the app is good fun. You can view the day's news in pictures, as well as view images from USA TODAY relating to sports, celebrities, science, travel and weather. The Snapshots section is also worth checking out for the fascinating polls that USA TODAY often runs.
Unlike the Android version of USA TODAY , the app allows you to pinch the screen to zoom into the text, with a font size slider appearing when you do so.
On the whole though, this application provides a comfortable and entertaining way to enjoy USA TODAY on your mobile phone.
